"Investors View on ERCOT Markets"

Our speaker Julien Dumoulin-Smith will discuss prospects for new build and thoughts from investors on the ERCOT power market. Factors considered will include how the recent wave of coal retirements is driving reserve margins to low levels, increasing the probability of scarcity events this summer and opportunity for new build, as well as the slight subsiding of strong wind generation and new solar build. Julien will additionally discuss what he expects for future market conditions.

Julien Dumoulin-Smith is a Director and Head of the US Power, Utilities and Alternative Energy equity research team. He was previously an Executive Director at UBS performing a similar role. Dumoulin-Smith was ranked #2 in the Institutional Investor All-America Research Poll for 2017 and #1 for 2016. He has also been ranked #1 in Alternative Energy in the Institutional Investor All-America Research Poll for 2016 and 2017. He was previously named Up and Comer on the same lists and received the top designation for 2012-15 among hedge fund managers on II's Alpha list, a recut version of the II poll for Utilities. Dumoulin-Smith earned both his undergraduate BS degree in Applied Math and MBA at Columbia University. He is based in New York and speaks English and French. He is a CAIA charterholder.
