Speaker Brian Beebe will provide brief outline of weather risk transfer industry, and outline the role of bespoke weather-electricity linked risk transfer solutions in enabling growth of renewables (solar, wind) as well as conventional generation resources in ERCOT. He will focus on representative wind and solar risk transfer solutions that have helped solve a key problem: a dearth of attractive PPA pricing alternatives. Lastly, he will speak to the growing utilization of climate (temperature) related solutions by leading Retailers, drawing examples from other competitive retail markets outside of Texas.

Brian oversees a team specializing in structured climate and energy perils, as well as power plant capacity and outage related risks. He is also CEO of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions' derivative carrier. He joined Swiss Re in 2012. Before Swiss Re, Brian was Managing Director at Trumarx Data Partners, an electronic negotiation and execution platform for OTC transactions. From 2007-2011, Brian was Vice President of Derivative Sales and Power Origination at Merrill Lynch Commodities. Brian has also held various commercial origination, trading, and management roles at Occidental Petroleum, ACES, Mirant (Southern Company), Louis Dreyfus Energy, and SEI Investments. Brian has a BA in Political Science and Spanish from Amherst College, and an MBA from Emory University's Goizueta School of Business.
