Moore has been on the Gulf Coast Power Association (GCPA) board of directors since 2003, and before that was an active member of the association, including chairing three of the GCPA’s Fall Conferences held in Austin in 1999, 2002, and 2003. During his tenure, GCPA experienced dramatic growth, and due to Moore’s influence and varied career accomplishments, the organization today reflects the diversity of business activities that operate in the Texas area power markets. Moore was particularly instrumental in shaping the GCPA Austin lunch meetings and the Association’s conferences held each year in the spring and fall.
Moore was recognized with an achievement award at the GCPA 28th Annual Spring Conference in Houston just one day before his passing. The achievement award was presented at the opening of the conference on April 1. Mary Anne Brelinsky, President of the GCPA Board of Directors, acknowledged Moore’s leadership by noting “...his significant contributions not only to GCPA, but to the electric power industry in this region. Throughout his career, John has been an advocate and leader for our industry. We are very pleased to recognize him for his four decades of power industry work and his more than a decade of tireless effort on behalf of the GCPA.”
Services for John Moore will be on Saturday, April 5 in Austin. For more information, please go here.
