"The Major Economic and Regulatory Trends Shaping the U.S. Power Industry"

In recent years, the power industry in the U.S. has been changing at a more rapid pace than has ever been seen before. There are many moving parts impacting electric power, thereby creating a great level of uncertainty and confusion over the future direction of the industry. This presentation will cover the major economic and regulatory trends that are expected to shape the industry in the next decade.

Our speaker Erdal Kara is an industry solutions executive in ABB Enterprise Software and is responsible for technical  marketing of ABB’s Capacity Expansion, Portfolio Optimization and PROMOD software solutions. He received his BA in International Trade from Bogazici (Bosphorus) University in Istanbul and his PhD in Economics from the University of Wyoming. Initially, he worked for Ventyx Energy in Sacramento, Vancouver and London offices and led many energy consulting projects for North American and European clients. Later, he worked as a senior analyst in the Department of Market Monitoring at the California Independent System Operator (CAISO). He has detailed knowledge of the CAISO tariff and FERC regulations and expertise in energy market analysis, forecasting, economic modeling and power plant valuation.
