Houston November 2022 Luncheon

"How the Inflation Reduction Act Will Reshape US Energy Markets"

Speaker: Elias Hinckley
Partner - Washington D.C. Office , Baker Botts

The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) will provide billions of dollars in incentives and investment programs to support building massive amounts of new energy infrastructure. With a sharp focus on accelerating the energy transition, IRA presents a generational investment opportunity, but will also redraw the competitive landscape across many sectors of the energy economy. We will have an open dialogue about how to tap into these investment opportunities, and how this shifting landscape may require strategic adaptation for energy companies.

Elias Hinckley is a Partner in the Washington, D.C. office of Baker Botts. He helps his clients navigating the changing energy landscape by incorporating tax, policy, and finance experience with market insight to solve the complex financing challenges of the energy transition.  He has been helping clients navigate the tax equity market for decades and has been at the forefront of the development of numerous financing structures driving the clean energy industry. His clients have included developers, private equity, hedge funds, infrastructure funds, tax equity investors, real estate investors, independent power companies, and public utilities. He has experience representing clients across energy sectors, including solar, wind, geothermal, biomass, biofuels, hydrogen, hydroelectric, batteries, fuel cells, energy efficiency, demand response, electric vehicles, electric transmission, natural gas, nuclear, and carbon capture. He is also an adjunct professor of international energy policy and markets at the Georgetown University Walsh School of Foreign Service.

PLEASE NOTE OUR NEW REGISTRATION POLICY:
Due to new protocol from the Downtown Club regarding their food ordering timeline plus the lack of a buffet during COVID to handle walk-in registrants, we have had to make the following changes:
  • Registration will now close at 12 noon on the Tuesday before the luncheon.
  • Any luncheon registrations that have not been prepaid by credit card will only be held until 11:40 AM on the day of the luncheon. After that, they will be released to any walk-ins who are onsite. Therefore, we strongly suggest that you prepay for your luncheon to guarantee your spot.
  • The Downtown Club is charging an increased price for any plates added after the Tuesday noon deadline. Therefore, any late registrants will be charged an additional $10 for their luncheon. Late registrations will be accepted between 12 noon on the Tuesday before the lunch through 12 noon on Wednesday. All late registrants must prepay for their lunch. To place and pay for a late registration, please call Penny Sullivan at 281-974-0624.
  • Walk-in spaces will be limited due to the lack of a buffet to handle overflow. The only walk-in spaces available will be those left vacant by pre-registered no-shows. Therefore, we strongly suggest that you pre-register for the lunch.

We thank you for your understanding and hope to return to a more relaxed policy as COVID cases decline.
